The River Clariano has its source in Bocairent and is 40 km long. It passes through Ontinyent, where it forms the Pou Clar area and flows into the River Albaida. The Clariano route runs through one of the sections of the river that passes through the interior of the municipality. The path is suitable for all kinds of people and it takes 30 minutes. During the route, we can observe the vegetation, based on reeds, water lilies and poplars. The “Borreguet”, “La Teula” and “La Canaleta” fountains offer fresh and crystalline water. At one end of the path we will find the bridge of Mitja Calça.
This bridge was the main entrance to the municipality until 1950, when the Sant Blai bridge was inaugurated a few metres further on. There are two explanatory panels about the use of water as an energy source for the operation of the mills and textile companies, which were built along the river bed. The Barranc de la Fos route, or the old road between Bocairent and Ontinyent, follows the course of the Clariano, and we can see the remains of some of these constructions.
