They are the second most important in the population. These festivities, declared in the year 2019 well of cultural interest (BIC) by Generalitat Valenciana revolve around “les danses”, which for centuries have managed to preserve their rituals, music and traditional dress; but what most characterizes them is their popularity. The prelude is the “dansetes” (as a rehearsal held the week before the sound of tabal and dulzaina).
The festivities begin with the Cabalgata, the participation of the Clavariesses Mayor and Infantil with their respective Cortes de Honor, the “Cabolos” (seven cabolos that delight the little ones) “the cook, the one-eyed man, the girl, the black man, the maño and the grandfather”, who directed by the “maestro” dance to the sound of music, and when they stop, run after the intrepid children.
From 23 to 27 at 23.00 h the dancers have an appointment in the Town Hall Square. One of the most deeply rooted rites is the beginning of the “Dansà”, which will be performed by the “Cap de Dansa” by a married woman, except for the first night, when the honour will go to the Clavariesa Mayor. The rite of the beginning, the dance steps, the clothes and the music make these dances one of the most singular in the region of La Vall d’Albaida.
The festivities end on the day of Sant Agustí with mass, procession and offering of flowers.
